To call the 2025 beach volleyball season a success would be an understatement. The team not only captured its fourth consecutive conference title, but also reached the top by claiming the 3C2A state title.
Along with the team’s accomplishments, head coach Kim Lester was named the 2025 PCAC All-Sports Coach of the Year, the second time she has earned the honor since first receiving it in 2004. Jaiden Mojica and Myah Gomez also had an outstanding season, placing third at the 2025 CCCAA State Pairs Championships.
While difficult to pinpoint areas for improvement after such a successful year, Lester mentions that growth remains the priority heading into the 2026 season.
“This year, we have another talented and driven group,” Lester said. “Our returning sophomores understand what it takes to win a championship, not just physically, but mentally and culturally. They’ve done a great job demonstrating Mesa beach volleyball standards, and instilling our program values in the freshmen. This team is improving every single day, and I’m excited to see what they accomplish this year.”
According to Lester, what made last season’s team special was their accountability and desire to win. Most importantly, the players had a team-first mentality.
As the new season begins, Lester expects the incoming freshmen to contribute right away.
“While individual impact is important, our focus will always remain on the team,” Lester added.
With practices already underway, Lester says that this team has a strong work ethic. One element the team has been focusing on is translating the skills they are performing in practice into actual game play. She adds the team prepares well, patient with the process, and always wanting to improve.
With a balanced of returning sophomores and talented newcomers, the team is once again positioned to be one of the top programs in the state. If they continue to improve, compete at a high level, and play for one another, the results will follow.
