Olympians Go 2-0, Punch Ticket to 3C2A State Tournament

The San Diego Mesa College women's beach volleyball team is headed to the 3C2A State Championship tournament after a strong 2-0 performance in regional play.

After losing one of their key players to a season ending injury, the team needed others to step up and they did just that. Head coach Kim Lester pointed to the play of Sneha Lee and Ruby Ennis, who brought consistency and worked well together throughout the day. Their communication stood out, and they handled key moments with confidence. Trina Nguyen and Bella Town continued their steady run, going 2-0, while the number five pair of Lily Rosales and Jovi Harmon once again delivered.

Mesa opened the day with a 4-1 win over Santa Monica College.

At the number two spot, Eva Luna and McKenna Brent put together a solid match, winning 21-17, 21-15 over Grace Vander Veen and Stella Moritz. Bella Town and Trina Nguyen followed at number three with a hard fought 22-20, 21-16 win against Ava Salvo and Mia Whitlock. At number four, Ruby Ennis and Sneha Lee controlled their match from start to finish, winning 21-14, 21-15 over Makena Gamby and Kailea Garcia. The number five match brought some tight moments, but Lily Rosales and Jovi Harmon stayed composed and closed it out 21-18, 21-18 against Nadene Taase and Holly MacGaffey.

In the second match against Moorpark College, Mesa kept the momentum going. Luna and Brent picked up another win at number two, while Town and Nguyen were dominant in a 21-8, 21-7 victory. At number four, Ennis and Lee continued their strong play, finishing off a 21-15, 21-15 win to help secure the result.
