2019 Pacific Coast Conference Champion and professional baseball player, Jonathan “Pepe” Soto begins his coaching career at Mesa in the Fall of 2025. Pepe will serve as the Olympians catching coach.

Pepe has spent the past 3 seasons playing professional baseball as a Catcher for the New Jersey Jackals (2023 Frontier League Semi-Finalist), Charleston Dirty Birds (2024 Atlantic League Runner-ups), Schaumberg Boomers and the Chicago Dogs (2025 American Association Semi-Finalist).  Prior to professional baseball, Soto also competed in the esteemed Appalachian League for the Elizabethton River Riders which part of Major League Baseball and USA Baseball's Prospect Development Pipeline. 

Jonathon completed his College playing career at Rogers State University where he was a 2-time All-Conference awardee, including the 2022 Gold Glove award for his defensive prowess behind the plate. Soto also excelled at the plate for the Hillcats, compiling a career stat line of .291/.386/.416. Pepe Hit safely 119 times, over 30 Extra Base hits, including 8 home runs, 75 RBI, and 69 BB/HBP to only 53 K’s. Defensively was even more impressive. A career .991 fielding %, over 750 put outs, over 80 assist, and an astounding 45 runners caught stealing. 

Pepe began his college career at San Diego Mesa College where he reached the playoffs in 2018 and was instrumental in the Olympians 2019 Conference Championship, Regional Championship, and Super Regional Appearance. During his time with the Olympians Pepe was an impact bat and difference maker defensively, ultimately earning an All-Conference award for the 2019 season. 

Soto graduated from local Fallbrook high school in 2016 where he played varsity baseball for the Warriors.

Jonathan earned his Associate’s degree from San Diego Mesa College and Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science from Rogers State University.
