Steve Pryor enters his 4th season as infield coach and mentor for Coach Portugal and San Diego Mesa’s 2026 campaign.

The 2025 campaign was a marque year for Coach Pryor as the Olympians won a Regional Championship and Steve was awarded the 2025 ABCA National & 3C2A State Assistant Coach of the Year. Coach received his award on the Main Stage at the National ABCA Convention in Columbus, Ohio on January 9th, 2026. 

Coach Pryor has an extensive coaching background that includes over 20 years of experience with a majority of that time coming with the legendary San Diego Stars travel team and at Mission Bay High School alongside Hall of Fame Coach, Dennis Pugh. 

Steve’s son, Jay, is a professional infield coach who previously spent 2 years with the Atlanta Braves organization as an infield instructor under the guidance of MLB legend, Ron Washington. Jay is currently the owner/founder of Pryor Development, one of the most premiere infield specialists in the world.

Coach Pryor graduated from local, Crawford High School, and attended Mesa College. Steve resides in San Diego.
