Fountain Valley, CA – Yesterday, both Men's and Women's Cross-Country Squads competed in the SoCal XC Championship at Mile Square Park, Fountain Valley, CA. It was a great outing for both Men's and Women's teams.
In the Men's 4 Mile Run, San Diego Mesa College placed 1st with 44 points at a total time of 1:40:02 edging Mt. Sac (ranked #1 in the State) 44-57. In the Men's 4 Mile Run Invite Individual, sophomore Jonathan Kelly placed 2nd place with a time of 19:23.2 with an average mile of 4:50.8. Freshman, Jesus Villarreal placed 7th 20:00, freshman, Devin Provence placed 10th 20:03, sophomore Esteban Magana placed 11th 20:13, and freshman Alan Jimenez 14th 20:22. The top 14 individuals earned All Region Honors.
In the Women's 5k Race, the Olympians placed 6th with a score of 175 and a total time of 1:41:45. Sophomore, Yahaira Zuniga placed 3rd place with a total of 18:08.5 with an average mile time of 5:50.3. Freshman, Gina Queck placed 10th place with a total time of 19:07, averaging 6:09.4 per a mile, sophomore Beyonce Wright placed 24th 19:49, freshman Raegan Beckham placed 69th 21:30, and freshman Bri Ayala placed 93rd 23:10.
Next up for both Men's and Women's Cross-Country teams is the CCCAA State Championship that takes place November 20th, in Fresno, CA at Woodward Park.
